MSc Abnormal and Clinical Psychology *

What you will study

You will study 180 credits comprising of the following modules:

  • Postgraduate Research Methods and Statistics (40 credits)
  • Psychopathology Through the Lifespan (20 credits)
  • Interventions (20 credits)
  • Addiction, Dependence and Deviance (20 credits)
  • Current and Historical Perspectives on Psychopathology (20 credits)
  • Dissertation (60 credits)

Educational Aim

The programme aims to:

  1. Develop disciplinary and generic competencies that should enhance applications for doctoral training or
    employment within the field of Clinical Psychology.
  2. Foster an advanced knowledge and critical appreciation of key current theories and issues within Clinical and
    Abnormal Psychology.
  3. Provide extensive training for students in scientific methods to: research the mechanisms leading to
    psychopathology and abnormal behaviour, and the interventions employed to ameliorate these, and conduct research independently
  4. Develop students’ abilities to confidently locate, synthesise and critically evaluate literature regarding theory,
    research findings, and applications within the field of Clinical and Abnormal Psychology
